Why we love being on the floor
For those of us with Symptomatic Hypermobility, we often experience decreased stability. It's no surprise we subconsciously seek out ways to be more stable so what better place to look besides the solid floor right beneath our feet?
We can use external things to help us create stability. This may look like leaning on things or living on the floor! We also have a lot of hip mobility which makes it easy to get into positions on the floor. Hips naturally stiffen as we age, so if someone is over 65 and still sits on the floor, I usually suspect some hypermobility.
If your floor postures are still hurting, we can use supports like a yoga block or pillows to help support our hips.
