Rib Pain & Hypermobility
Your ribcage is vital for keeping your organs safe. It’s made up of bone and a whole lot of cartilage (aka connective tissue). Your ribcage should be able to move as you breathe in and out. The ribs in the front mostly attach to cartilage which attach to bone. In the back, your ribs meet with your thoracic spine (mid back joints). This is why mid back mobility is such an important part of treating rib pain. In addition, you have layers of muscles around and throughout your rib cage and abdomen. This is where abdominal work comes in!
Rib pain is real and incredibly painful. It can come from the rib itself subluxating or inflammation of the ribs. It also may be a mechanical issue related to your trunk stability (or lack of) as well as your pelvic floor stability.
We can use breathwork, mobilizations, and trunk strengthening to help stabilize this area. I’m dropping a 30 day mini training this weekend for my 30th birthday 🥳 You won’t want to miss this if you want to dive deeper into this area!
